Volunteering at the Humane Society

HSTV offers a variety of volunteer opportunities from hands-on work with the animals (including providing in-home foster care) to helping with fund-raising and educational events.

All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation class prior to actually working at any HSTV facility. There are no exceptions to this rule. For more details, call 865-573-9675.

Orientation classes are now held twice a month. They will be the third Tuesday of every month and one Saturday a month. This month's classes will be Tuesday May 15th and Saturday May 26th from 7pm-8pm at  Adopt-A-Pet. You only need to attend one orientation class. Please complete the Volunteer_Application and bring it with you to class.

Attention: Special note about June's volunteer orientation class! The June Tuesday class will be on the fourth Tuesday instead of the third. The normal schedule will resume in July. Thank you!

Information on volunteer opportunities is contained in the HSTV Volunteer Manual. Please print out and carefully read the manual before attending class.

Age Requirement

Volunteers must be at least age 12. Those at least 12, but under 16, must be accompanied -- at all times -- by a parent or guardian who is at least age 18. One parent or guardian may be responsible for no more than three volunteers between the ages of 12 and 15. Those aged 16 & 17 may volunteer alone but must provide a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.

All volunteers must have a car available. Neither HSTV staff or volunteers are available to provide transportation in case of an emergency which requires the closure of any facility.

HSTV reserves the right to terminate the services of any volunteer.
